Belgian intelligence service heading for legal chaos

On September 1st a new law enters into force which gives the state security agency and the military intelligence agencies much more responsibilities, including tapping phones, breaking into computers and setting up fictitious front-companies. However, the current caretaker government still hasn’t appointed the new oversight committee that has to give its prior permission to engage in such activities. The current oversight committee has expressed its concerns on the situation.
